LARRY ZOX
Lawrence "Larry" Zox (May 31, 1937 – December 16, 2006) was an American painter and printmaker who is classified as an Abstract expressionist. He is an abstract painter of exciting colorful dynamic geometric artworks. Known for his signature works flat painted, geometric shapes, diamonds and brilliant asymmetric compositions bursting with color.
Zox was born in Des Moines, Iowa and moved to New York City at an early age. He lived an artist's life, running in the circles of many prominent names in the art world. ln 1973 the Whitney Museum of American Art recognized his importance by organizing a solo show of his work. In 1974 he was represented in the inaugural exhibition of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, which owns 14 of his works. His work has been exhibited in many one-person and group shows including the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York); the Museum of Modern Art (NY); Albright-Knox Art Gallery (Buffalo, New York); Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and more.
